Thomas Alva Edison's words are like a motto outlining the WALTHER history. Ingenious inventors, supported by courageous entrepreneurs, tirelessly design and optimize pioneering new firearm models for the markets, which are constantly in flux. WALTHER firearms are used in almost all the countries in the world. They have proven their excellent quality a million times over.
WALTHER products are used by the police, armed forces and other public authorities. Hunters and sportsmen have a high regard for our sophisticated rifles and handguns. No wonder weapons collectors prefer WALTHER firearms to any other kind.
The WALTHER family-owned company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1986. In 1993, it joined the UMAREX Group, whose roots – strictly speaking – are anchored in WALTHER as well, namely with the aforementioned Walter Riem and his Perfecta pistol. It formed the “seed capital” for establishing the company Mayer & Riem in Arnsberg, which became UMAREX several years later. With fresh ideas and significant investments, Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer and Franz Wonisch led UMAREX to build successful collaboration with WALTHER. The two "full-blooded entrepreneurs" impressed the WALTHER employees with their enormous technical knowledge and passion for hunting. Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer and Franz Wonisch have been able to maintain and at the same time renew the WALTHER tradition.
